KALYAN: A 32-year-old insurance agent has been arrested by the Kalyan GRP for working as a fake ticket checker (TC) and fining passengers without tickets.
The agent turned fake TC as he was facing financial difficulties due to lockdown.
Accused Ashraf Ali told Kalyan GRP that he got the idea of crime after he was caught without ticket by TC while travelling to Igatpuri and he had to pay fine.
The GRP has found that the accused had printed a fake receipt book and identity card to pretext looks like real TC.
On Monday, Ashraf was caught when a police constable noticed young TC fining passengers alighting from Kushi Nagar express train. Noticing him suspect, Akhade questioned Ashraf who during enquiry revealed the entire incident.
Archana Dusane, police inspector of Kalyan GRP said, “In probe, we have found that Ashraf, who worked as an insurance agent after lockdown, was not getting any customer and new lockdown due to the second wave had increased financial difficulties due to which he committed the crime.”
