Huge shock leaves Amy Shark speechless

Amy Shark has been given a birthday surprise, meeting with one of her biggest idols while live on air – and the singer was close to tears.

While chatting on the Fifi, Fev & Nick radio show Tuesday morning, Amy Shark was gifted a HUGE birthday surprise.

Fifi reminisced about Shark’s previous birthday, and how she tried her best to wrangle a certain somebody to leave her a voice message.

“Now Amy I’m a bit nervous about this because last year I tried to surprise you for your birthday … but it was a bit of a fail,” said Fifi.

“I tried to get you a cameo or voicemail from somebody you’re a fan of … we found an Instagram post from you last year talking about being a huge X-Files fan,” she continued.

The station went on to play audio from Amy’s birthday last year, admitting that they reached out to David Duchovny, who played Fox Mulder on The X-Files, but never heard back from him.

“Oh my god! You don’t even understand how excited you got me!” Amy exclaimed at the time. “My heart was in my throat.”

Back to present day, Fifi explained how she could make it up to her.

“I was thinking, ‘Where do I go from there?’ I mean, getting him to leave you a nice message would have been a great birthday surprise … so I’ve tried again! Now Amy, don’t get your hopes up because it’s not a voicemail from David Duchovny … It’s actually David Duchovny! David, welcome to the show!” And just like that, the actor himself appeared on a video call.

“Oh my God no this isn’t happening,” said a very shocked Amy Shark.

David went on to wish Amy a happy birthday, expressing how nice it was to meet her.

“I can’t actually believe this is happening,” Amy said. “I’m a big fan of yours.”

David told the Everybody Rise singer that he was also a huge fan, and she struggled to wrap her head around that.

“To think that you know that I exist in the world is really incredible.

“Can I ask you a stupid question?” she continued, “Do you talk to Gillian Anderson still?” referring to David’s X-Files co-star who played Dana Scully.

“I was in London shooting a movie last month and Gillian lives there, we had some lunch.”

Fifi interjected shortly after: “Amy is this a good surprise?”

“You crushed it,” she said, but the best is yet to come.

“We’ve been playing music over here,” David told the singer, “We toured in Australia a couple of years ago … next time we come back, you will have to play with us or we will play with you,” he propositioned.

“I would very very much love that, thank you so much,” she said.
