Despite Bengaluru being shuttered, the Covid-19 situation in the city is getting grimmer by the day. Family members of at least 500 patients set out every day in search of ventilator beds in different hospitals of the city, and barely two dozens of them meet with success.The state logged highestever daily fatalities of 292. Bengaluru’s active cases breached the 3-lakh mark. With Covid cases still on the rise despite one week of curfew, the state government is actively considering the option of imposing a complete lockdown at least for two weeks after May 12, official sources said. While the state government maintains that things are under control, Karnataka has seen multiple Covid-19 deaths linked to oxygen shortage. The demand for medical oxygen has shot up as the number of hospitalisations rise. According to an estimate based on the government formula, nearly 89,000 patients in the state may require oxygen.
