Contact tracers are scrambling to find close contacts of the state’s first locally transmitted COVID-19 case in months.

A 50-year-old man was tested for coronavirus on Tuesday and returned a positive result on Wednesday, authorities said.

He has not travelled overseas and does not work in hotel quarantine or health.

Genome sequence testing is currently underway.

Anyone who attended one of the following venues at the times specified is asked to immediately get tested and isolate until NSW Health provides further information.

Venues of concern include the Event Cinemas in Bondi Junction, Figo Restuarant in Rushcutters Bay, BP Mascot, The Meat Store in Bondi Junction and several barbecue outlets across Annandale, Casula and Silverwater over the weekend.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the man had been very “active” in the community.
